Disney pushes The Marvels release to summer 2023 as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania moves up

Disney announces Marvel's Ant-Man and Captain Marvel sequels swapping their release schedules. The sequel to 2019's Captain Marvel, which was originally set to debut on November 11 this year but was later pushed to February 17, will now hit theaters on July 28, 2023. The new slate shuffle means Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will now arrive on February 17, 2023. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Marvels now moves to July 28, 2023, making way for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania to fill the earlier slot. It’s understood Ant-Man is further along in the production process, and so the decision was made to swap launch dates with The Marvels . Spider-Man director Jon Watts steps down as director of Marvel’s Fantastic Four reboot

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Watts, who helmed the massively successful Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, has withdrawn from the Marvel Cinematic Universe project. “Making three Spider-Man films was an incredible and life-changing experience for me,” Watts said in a statement to THR. I’m eternally grateful to have been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for seven years. The Gossip Girl star is set to make her feature film directorial debut with an adaptation of the graphic novel Seconds , by Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O'Malley. According to Variety, created by Bryan Lee O’Malley and released in 2014 by Random House imprint Ballantine Books, Seconds follows the story of Katie Clay, the owner and head chef of the titular restaurant. One night, a mysterious spirit provides Katie with the ability to alter reality by writing something she wants to change in a notebook, eating a mushroom and falling asleep. Pop singer Tz from Stereo Nation passed away at the age of 54 on April 29, 2022. The singer, who was reportedly suffering from Hernia, was due to have surgery two years ago for the same but it was postponed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.   As his health deteriorated, Taz was reportedly in a coma. In early March 2022, he was out of a coma and showed signs of improvement. His family had even released a statement at the time and thanked everyone for well-wishes. The fourth film in Keanu Reeves-led action franchise, due out on March 24, 2023, showcased its first look trailer during Lionsgate CinemaCon presentation, unveiled by the leading man himself slaying enemies with nun chucks in the footage. As Variety reports, appearing during the Lionsgate presentation at the annual exhibition trade show, Reeves was greeted with lusty applause and chants of “you’re the man!” from attendees. Bharat Ek Khoj actor Salim Ghouse passes away at 70 from a cardiac arrest

Veteran actor Salim Ghouse, who starred in Bharat Ek Khoj , passed away earlier on April 28 at 70 following a cardiac arrest. The actor, who was born in Chennai,  was one of the most popular faces on television in the 80s. He worked in TV, and movies but gained popularity after starring in the TV series Subah on Doordarshan. Salim's wife Anita Salim confirmed the news of his passing to Indian Express stating that he had complained of chest pain on Wednesday night following which he was rushed to hospital. He passed away on Thursday. In a statement, she said, “We took him to Kokilaben Hospital last night, and he passed away this morning. He hated grieving and wanted life to go on. He didn’t suffer, he wouldn’t have liked being dependent on anyone. He was a man with a lot of self-respect. Johnny Depp is suing his former wife Amber Heard for $50 million claiming that she ruined his career by fabricating claims of domestic violence. A former agent for the Hollywood star testified that Heard’s abuse allegations had a “traumatic impact” on Depp’s image following which he was dropped from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. According to a Variety report, Christian Carino, a talent agent at Creative Artists Agency, appeared by video deposition at Depp’s defamation trial, which has been underway in Fairfax, Va. since April 11. Back in March 2022, Netflix announced that Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Vijay Varma were coming together to star in Sujoy Ghosh's untitled film. It is a screen adaptation of one of Keigo Higashino’s most acclaimed works, "The Devotion of Suspect X". Now, the makers plan to kick off the first schedule in Darjeeling next week. In the first week of May, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Vijay Varma will head to Darjeeling to film key scenes at the hill station. Bad Bunny to play Spider-Man character El Muerto for Sony; becomes first Latino actor to lead a Marvel live-action film

Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as global superstar Bad Bunny, will star as Marvel antihero comic character El Muerto and will lead the standalone comic book film for Sony Pictures. The news came out of CinemaCon, the annual gathering of movie theater owners in Las Vegas, during Sony’s panel where Bad Bunny made a surprise appearance. As Deadline notes, the character of El Muerto aka Juan Carlos was a super powered wrestler who originally fought Spider-Man in a charity wrestling match in which he nearly unmasked the webslinger before being stung by Spider-Man with a paralyzing poison. After his oppressor El Dorado came to claim his life, he was saved by Spider-Man, after which the two team up to defeat Dorado.
