Kanika Kapoor gets notice from Lucknow police to record statement amid her covid-19 recovery

In March 2020, it was reported that Kanika Kapoor was diagnosed with Covid-19 after she returned from London. She had been in a Lucknow hospital and after several tests, her last two tests have come out negative and she was discharged a few days ago. She has been spending time with her family in Lucknow. Amid her recovery, she has been sent a notice by the police to record her statement in regards to her interacting with people after arriving from abroad. Deepak Kumar Singh, ACP, Krishna Nagar said that she will have to come to the police station to give a written statement after which further proceedings will be carried out. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai is using this lockdown to work on his upcoming projects. The director revealed that he has been teaching his film school students one hour daily amid lockdown. Speaking to a daily, the filmmaker revealed that he is already working on the sequel of Khalnayak and is also gearing up for Kalicharan remake, the film which marked his debut as a director. Ghai said that for the past six to seven months, he has been only working on creating content and is ready with two bound scripts. The sequel to Khalnayak will take the original story forward. With film productions halted since March amid nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus outbreak, several production houses are facing losses since the schedules were abruptly ended. Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi, in which she is essaying the role of Jayalalithaa, has reportedly incurred Rs. 5 crores loss so far due to the lockdown. The reports have stated that the 45-day schedule was supposed to kick off on March 10. The makers have constructed the Parliament House at the Ramakrishna Cine Studios in Hyderabad. They were to wrap up the shooting in mid-April followed by the Chennai schedule. Shaailesh Singh, the producer, reveals that they will have to wrap up the shooting before the monsoon arrives or the elaborate sets will be destroyed. In March, shortly after her return from London, singer Kanika Kapoor was diagnosed with Covid-19. She recovered after testing positive for as many as five times, and is now discharged from the hospital. Several rumours suggesting that she dodged the mandatory screening at the airport and later hosted lavish parties at her hometown Lucknow after returning, were doing the rounds. After getting discharged, Kanika has broken silence for the first time and has put out a statement on social media. She says rumours of her escaping the screening or throwing parties have no truth to them. "Every person that I have come in contact with be it in UK, Mumbai or Lucknow has shown no symptoms of Covid-19. In fact all those tested have been negative," she wrote. The novel coronavirus has brought life to a standstill. A lockdown was imposed in India starting March 25. Before the lockdown, several state governments had announced that theatres and gyms will be shut to stop the spread of the virus. During the post-lockdown period, the cinema viewing experience will undergo major changes.  Reportedly, over the past few days, different departments of cinema including production, distribution and exhibition chains have been holding virtual conferences to discuss the details of the post lockdown phase.  An exhibitor talking to a tabloid said that fighting the fear in the minds of the audience has been a major point of discussion. He said that cinema will take safety measures even if there is no directive. Cinemas will be practising social distancing by keeping seats vacant between groups, individuals or couples, making masks and sanitisers compulsory. Now, the National Film Awards that honours excellence in the entire national spectrum of Indian cinema on May 3 every year also stands delayed indefinitely as of now.  Reportedly, the officials have not been discussing the 67th National Film Awards as they are currently focusing on tackling the coronavirus situation. Talking to a daily, filmmaker Rahul Rawail who was a part of the National Film Awards jury last year said that the process of putting together a jury was about to start before the coronavirus scare intensified in the country. He said that the jury has not yet been formed.  The winners are decided by an independent jury consisting of eminent filmmakers and film personalities and declared in April every year, followed by the ceremony on May 3.
