The Bombay High Court has thrown out a copyright infringement plea against Balaji Telefilms over its 2023 comedy Dream Girl 2, ruling that the film’s storyline is entirely different from the applicant’s work and that the claim of breach of confidence was ‘far-fetched’. The case was filed by writer Ashim Kumar Bagchi, who claimed the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer was based on his script originally titled Kal Kisne Dekha and later re-registered as The Show Must Go On. Delhi-based Ivy Entertainment, a subsidiary of Ivy Holdings, has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against Hyderabad-based People Media Factory Pvt Ltd (PMF), the co-producers of the much-awaited Pan-India film, The Raja Saab, as per an article in The Economic Times. The company is seeking a permanent injunction over what it claims are serious breaches of contractual obligations. In its plea, Ivy Entertainment alleged that PMF failed to fulfil several critical commitments, including completing and releasing the film within the agreed timeline, providing monthly production updates, disclosing how funds were being utilized, delivering agreed materials related to the film, and postponing the theatrical release multiple times without justification. The producers, Yash Raj Films (YRF), completed the censor process in time and in this article, we’ll focus on the cuts given to the spy action entertainer by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The CBFC has not requested any deletions or changes to the action sequences. However, in certain other scenes, they have asked for modifications, including both audio and visual cuts. To begin with, the makers were asked to mute ‘inappropriate references’ in the audio as well as visuals. The changes were made in as many as six places in the film.
